He is the one upon whom the whole of creation relies with regards all their needs, predicaments and necessities. This is due to His unrestricted perfection with regards His Person, His Names, His Attributes and His Actions.

Say: He is Allah the One. Allah as-Samad.

Prophetic Traditions

Allah said: 'The son of Adam denied Me and he had no right to do so, and he insulted Me and he had no right to do so. As for his denial—it is his saying: He will not recreate me as He created me. As for his insult—it is his saying: Allah has taken a son.' And He is As-Samad who neither begets nor is begotten.

This hadith qudsi affirms that As-Samad is free from having offspring—He is the self-sufficient eternal refuge whom all depend upon.
